Universal laser safety head

At the moment when one of the metal parts manufacturers was looking for their identification with 2D code to ensure traceability, the laser process was designed and optimized as the most efficient labeling method. Since the part is marked with a layer of color, it was necessary to introduce the code in sufficient depth to keep it legible after its coloring. Pulse Fiber Laser was thus created a Datamatrix code to a depth of 0.3 mm and in the cycle given by the customer, after the coloring was then successfully verified his reading. Depending on the size of the DMX code, depths of up to 0.5 mm can be achieved.

Another requirement of the customer was to maintain the safety of the laser device without the need to cover the entire workplace, as it was necessary to maintain its accessibility for workers and other material feeders. In addition, the entire workspace handled the robotic arm, which had a large radius of engagement. To this, the high temperature of the part that had just come out of the furnace and could have a temperature of up to 400 degrees Celsius was added.

That's why this safety head has been designed that can be placed on either the robotic arm itself or its robot parts under the stationary head thanks to its compact size. The sealing area (chamber) is secured by a special heat-resistant (heat-resistant) rubber that is pressed against the material to provide protection against laser radiation escape. The laser description is only triggered after four quadruple mechanical sensors have been placed at the end of the head. This is to ensure the maximum perpendicular contact of the head on the flat surface and the adhesion of the protective rubber. If necessary, it is possible to add an additional displaceable linear axis with the head to ensure the final perpendicular movement of the head to the material so that all four sensors are switched on unless it is able to make the robot itself. The head also has another special feature, namely the air extraction of fossils produced by laser engraving. This could damage the optics of the laser. The latest technology of the material in front of the description is provided by four openings, which are supplied with compressed air and thus ensure the cleanness of the surface for the ideal interaction of the laser with the workpiece.
