VIDEO: Robotic stainless steel welding

We were asked to verify the feasibility of laser welding of metals - specifically stainless steel barrels.

As the request for automated robotic machines increases we decided to test the entire laser welding process using a robotic arm that positioned the welded part.

To connect the two parts (neck and body), we used a fixture made by us. The robot then grabbed the entire part by the jig and positioned it under a fiber laser with a deflection head. The programmers adjusted the timing of the robot's rotation with the gripped part so that the laser "managed" to create a beautiful, clean weld (photo below).
