VIDEO: CO2 laser cutting with cutting head

As part of the expansion of LINTECH's application portfolio, we decided to develop and integrate laser cutting technology with the use of a cutting head. The motivation for this development is to replace the scanning head and SAMLight control software in applications where its deployment is not strictly necessary. The cutting head has been integrated on a 150 W CO2 laser, which enables laser cutting of non-metallic materials in thicknesses down to a few millimetres.

A typical example of this application is static beam laser cutting with gas assist, where the positioning of the part is provided by a robotic arm. In this case, the assist gas is fed directly into the output nozzle of the cutting head, thereby blowing the fused material away from the cutting area. At the same time, the process head is cooled and the focusing optics are protected. The robotic arm then moves the part along pre-programmed trajectories that follow the contour being cut. The result is a very high quality, scar-free, thermal-influenced cut.

This application is used in the trimming of sprue systems, bridge trimming or continuous cutting of non-metallic materials (plastics, textiles...). In the video you can see an example of cutting a part of a plastic piece.
